Beginning with that year, the rifles were marked DWM. I believe that is correct, all Loewe Berlin marked rifles are pre 1897.

They stopped marking mausers with the Loewe stamps in 1897, that is when the DWM models began making appearance. If memory serves correct DWM merged with the Loewe company in 1896.
